European Grand Prix name to remainThere will not be a 'German Grand Prix' in 2007.
It is being reported in the country's specialist press that the German GP descriptor is actually controlled by organisers of the Hockenheim race, which will not be held this year.
The
circuit must now annually alternate hosting formula one with the Nurburgring, which is set to stage the only Grand Prix in Germany this year in July.
But despite expectations that the race will be called the German Grand Prix, it now emerges that the Nurburgring event - as per usual - will be called the 'European GP' because an arrangement between the organisers could not be reached.
For the first time in nearly half a century, then, there will officially be no German Grand Prix this season.
