Prefers to only discuss with Brawn himselfFollowing reports about Ross Brawns possible move to Honda, Singapore news site TodayOnline.com has published an article in which Ferrari team boss Jean Todt reacts to the rumours.
While speaking to the Singapore media,
Todt bristled at the suggestion that he might relinquish his hold on Ferrari's Formula 1 team.
A British newspaper recently published that Brawn who left Ferrari as technical director last October for a year's sabbatical was in talks with Honda to join them in 2008. It was suggested the Briton would only return to Ferrari if he got the job of team principal, a post Todt has held since 1993.
Ferrari claimed Brawn would be in breach of a 'gentleman's agreement' if he were negotiating with the Japanese. Todt said: "The truth is Ross decided to leave his position to gain some time for himself. We agreed with him that should he decide to come back and remain in this business, he would come to me first to discuss it together.
"Maybe he does not want to be in racing, maybe he wants to be in another part of competition, but we can discuss that," pointed out Todt.
While Todt acknowledged that "Brawn has done many things" for Ferrari, the Frenchman added: "I am only open to the idea of discussing with Brawn his future."
In addition to the top job at the Ferrari team, Brawn had also mentioned in the past that he might be interested in moving back to England. If Todt refuses to move, a Honda contract might be enough to lure Brawn away even if the Japanese UK-based outfit would probably not offer him the management of the team.
Fellow englishman Nick Fry the man who would be responsible for his hiring holds that position.
