Ferrari expect to run the V8 in practiceKimi Raikkonen said on Wednesday that Ferrari will not decide until next Friday or Saturday whether or not to change his engine for the Malaysian Grand Prix. Although the Finn won dominantly in Melbourne, his V8 power plant ran hot
in the closing stages due to a water leak.
Ferrari engineers have inspected the engine but have not decided whether or not to take the risk of using it at Sepang or play it safe by installing a new one and taking a ten-position grid penalty.
"Hopefully everything will be okay," Raikkonen told reporters at the circuit, where on Wednesday the ambient temperatures hovered around a hot 35 degrees Celsius. "On Friday or Saturday we will decide if the engine has to be changed."
Raikkonen said Ferrari was concentrating on preparations for the upcoming Malaysian Grand Prix.
"We have some new aerodynamic parts here," he added, admitting that the Malaysian heat makes it difficult for the drivers. "But (it is difficult) not just for the drivers but also the people who work on the cars. It is more difficult here than other places but on the other hand it is the same for everyone."
