For Spyker racer confirmed in the WTCCF1 refugee
Tiago Monteiro has signed to race for the Spanish manufacturer SEAT in the FIA's World Touring Car Championship this year.
The former Spyker driver, who joined the Silverstone based team when it was known as Jordan
in 2005, was replaced for 2007 by German rookie Adrian Sutil.
Due to the late signing Monteiro will not debut in his new series until Zandvoort in May. This weekend's season opener is being held in Brazil.
"Obviously I am very satisfied with the agreement reached with
SEAT Sport to become an official team driver," Monteiro stated. "Since testing the car in Valencia, I realised that the team has great experience and can compete at the highest professional level."
"With the team's help I am sure that I will be able to learn rapidly in such a different championship and to be among the best as soon as possible."
