Sakhir - McLaren Mercedes - TestingLewis Hamilton set the second fastest lap in Bahrain testing today for McLaren Mercedes. The rookie driver lapped the 5.412km circuit in 1:31.178s in the morning session while Pedro de la Rosa took over driving duties from
Fernando Alonso
in the sister MP4-22.
De la Rosa set the fifth fastest time with a best of 1:31.971. Alonso meanwhile was very much in evidence at the circuit, opting to remain at the test.
According to reports, Alonso spent much of the day watching the F1 action from the perimeter road, taking time to have a good look at Felipe Massa's Ferrari when it stopped on track.
Off track, the team today announced new team merchandise for the 2007 season. The 'Team' range is designed by Hugo Boss will be joined by the 'Active' range in April.
