Valencia - McLaren Mercedes - TestingMcLaren Mercedes today ended a successful test in Valencia with Lewis Hamilton setting the fastest lap of the week.
Hamilton joined Pedro de la Rosa on track as the team continued to put mileage on the MP4-22, setting a best lap
of 1:11.119s.
The focus remained on the aerodynamic testing and set-up work with the 2007 challengers, as the team develops a full understanding of the MP4-22. Hamilton’s programme also incorporated a full race distance.
De la Rosa's day ended shortly before the end of the session with an engine failure that happened a number of kilometres after the end of the lifecycle of the Mercedes-Benz FO 108T engine.
De la Rosa was fourth fastest today with a best lap of 1:12.455s.
The engine had been used by
Fernando Alonso for over 1,100km, before switching to de la Rosa’s car today and covering over 200km, to allow the team to explore its limits.
