Michael Schumacher can return to motor sport at his leisure with Mercedes-Benz.
That is the promise of Norbert Haug, the German carmaker's Competition Director, who was already a part of upper
management when an up-and-coming Schumacher raced sports cars.
"If he ever has an itch to return to where his international career began," Haug told Motorsport Aktuell, "then he has my phone number."
Should Ron Dennis remain in charge of McLaren Mercedes, however, Schumacher is unlikely to be interested.
The now 38-year-old considered the switch in the mid and late-90s, but instead spent the majority of his Formula One career at Ferrari.
"Everything with Mercedes ran very well and we could have found a way (to collaborate in F1)," the German recently explained, "but Ron had another view of how an F1 team should function."
