Processing power the key for BMW SauberBMW Sauber chose to invest in a new $10 million supercomputer called 'Albert 2' instead of building a second wind tunnel.
At its F1 headquarters in Switzerland, the German squad last month unveiled Europe's fastest industry
computer, which is three times quicker than its predecessor 'Albert'.
Referring to the unique investment, BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen said: "Unlike other teams, we are not planning to build a second wind tunnel."
'Albert 2' is a collaboration of Intel, APC, Dalco and software company Fluent, and reduces the need for a second wind tunnel through its lauded ability to simulate air flow.
