World Cup beat Schumacher finale in GermanyNot even the last race of
Michael Schumacher's sixteen year career could rival World Cup fever in Germany in 2006.
October's Brazilian Grand Prix, where seven time world champion Schumacher competed for the 250th and final
time, attracted the fifteenth-best television ratings of 2006.
Of Germany's entire population of 82 million, 13.45m (or 16%) tuned in to the Interlagos event, according to year-end ratings released on Wednesday.
But despite failing to match the more than 20 million apiece audiences for the German team's seven World Cup matches, the F1 season finale did record the highest non-football TV figures within Germany for 2006.
Germany's World Cup semi-final defeat to Italy topped the charts, with an audience of 29.66m.
