Mass doubts Ralf's ability to win title
Toyota must make a gigantic step
Former Grand Prix driver Jochen Mass has expressed doubt about Ralf Schumacher's ability to emulate his famous brother and win a F1 title.

The 60-year-old, who raced 138 times between 1973 and 1982 and was Germany's most successful
driver until the arrival of Schumacher, assessed Ralf's claim that he still dreams about winning a drivers' championship at the age of 31.

"To get the title, Toyota must make a gigantic step forwards," Mass told sport1.de.

He continued: "To be honest, I am not sure that Ralf has the ability to bring the team together, as Michael did with Ferrari.

"But as a driver he is right up there, and if he gets a good car then he can win races."

Mass, whose single GP win was for McLaren in Spain, 1975, also commented on Ferrari and branded the Italian team's 2007 race line-up of Kimi Raikkonen alongside Felipe Massa as 'risky'.

"Usually they have a number one driver, and like this their team has operated successfully.

"In contrast, McLaren have ignored this policy for years and suffered because of it."

Mass, however, applauded McLaren for putting rookie Lewis Hamilton alongside World Champion Fernando Alonso in 2007.

He said of Hamilton: "Naturally he will need two years before he is up to speed."
