Spyker to miss January tests
Awaiting new chassis for the Ferrari V8
After sitting out the nine days of pre-Christmas testing, Dutch F1 team Spyker will also not test in January, it has emerged.

The Silverstone based squad was the only Grand Prix team to miss the pre-season runs at Barcelona
and Jerez following the 2006 season, having revealed the decision to not build an 'interim' car for its new Ferrari engine.

But despite expectations that Spyker would finally fall in line when the New Year ban ends in mid January, the Dutch businessman and Spyker F1 Director Michiel Mol says the team is unlikely to test until February - less than six weeks before the season kicks off in Melbourne.

Mol said Spyker's first tests of 2007 will follow the launch of its new car.

"This is the way we have chosen to most efficiently use our resources," Mol told the magazine Formule 1 Race Report.

Arguably the biggest disadvantage for Spyker is the lack of knowledge of Bridgestone's new control tyre for 2007.

Mol said: "It is not ideal, but we have a lot of experience with Bridgestone."

Spyker will also start next year without a title sponsor, the Dutch magazine reported.
