Hakkinen tips Alonso for third title
''He has enormous talent and ambition''
Mika Hakkinen thinks Fernando Alonso can succeed where he failed - by winning a third consecutive drivers' title.

Driving for McLaren, the 38-year-old Finn won the world championship in 1998 and 1999, but was narrowly defeated
by Ferrari's Michael Schumacher when seeking a third.

But while Hakkinen tipped Alonso to be the man to beat in 2007, despite switching from Renault to McLaren, he pointed out the difficulty of staying at the top in F1.

"For me it was really difficult to win two titles," Hakkinen is quoted as saying by the Spanish newspaper Marca.

"People see Fernando and assume that winning a world championship is easy but it is very, very complicated.
With my experience of winning two titles I cannot imagine how hard it would be to win three.

"But Alonso is the champion and he will be driving for the best team, so he has to be the favourite.

"He has enormous talent and ambition - I can see him winning again."

Hakkinen tested a current McLaren at Barcelona late last month and could be involved with the Woking based team in 2007.
