“Hopefully we can fight for the podium”Kimi Raikkonen admitted on Saturday that he believed he had no chance of winning Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix and so ending his McLaren team's long run without a win.
Raikkonen qualified in second place on the grid, for his last
race before leaving McLaren for Ferrari, but conceded that the Italian team had a superior car and would be too quick for him to beat.
McLaren have not won a race since last year's Japanese Grand Prix and face completing the season without a victory for the first time since 1996.
"We didn't really know what to expect before the race so this is quite a good result, but the Ferrari seems to be a bit too quick for us,” Raikkonen admitted.
"Hopefully we can fight for the podium. It has been a good weekend so far and we have a chance, but the Ferraris are too strong for us.
"I don't think there is much more to come from our car though because we are a bit handicapped with the second race engine."
