“We were the fastest on the track...A stern
Michael Schumacher told reporters on Saturday that he felt 'sad' that he spent the decisive phase of his last ever qualifying session in the pits. But the Ferrari veteran insisted: "Tomorrow is another day."
Asked how he measured
his disadvantage ahead of the Brazilian grand prix - the final in his sixteen year career - Schumacher answered tersely and without humour: "Ten places."
Asked if he thought he could still win, he said: "It is more difficult - we will see. I am not thinking about the drivers' title anymore, but we will try to score as many points as we can for the constructors' one.
"Tenth is not the end of the world, but it does make our mission more difficult."
The German admitted to disappointment at the occurrence of consecutive mechanical failures - at Suzuka and now two weeks later in Brazil - at such important and momentous points of the 2006 season.
"I am calm," he nonetheless said. "We were the fastest on the track, but something happened that is beyond my power - exactly as in Suzuka."
