Silverstone - Wednesday - TestingRenault drivers finished first and second at Silverstone today, Nelson Piquet Jr setting the pace in front of Heikki Kovalainen.
Franck Montagny finished third on the time sheets, driving for Toyota for a second consecutive day, replacing
Ricardo Zonta who wasn’t feeling well.
Williams continued testing the Toyota-powered FW28 in the hands of Narain Karthikeyan. Alex Wurz was also driving for the team, using a Cosworth powered FW28.
“Narain continued with the systems checks on the interim FW28B and successfully completed a considerable number of laps over the course of the day,” explained Mike Condliffe, Test Team Manager at Williams. “Meanwhile, Alex drove the FW28A Cosworth-powered car to evaluate tyre compounds for Suzuka and various components for Shanghai. Tomorrow, Alex will drive the FW28B with the Toyota engine.”
Lewis Hamilton had his first ‘proper’ day of testing at the wheel of the McLaren MP4-21, the GP2 Champion setting the sixth fastest time behind Alex Wurz.
Alexandre Premat completed his first test at the wheel of Spyker MF1’s M16, the Frenchman getting ready for his role as third driver for Skyker MF1 at the upcoming Chinese Grand Prix.
