Suzuka and Hockenheim aiming for a Grand PrixUp to three Formula One venues could still be in the running to fill the eighteenth slot on next year's Grand Prix calendar.
Although the media widely assumed this week that teams' agreement to attend an extra race next year
gave hope to beleaguered Imola, both Hockenheim and Suzuka have reportedly not given up on winning the slot.
At least two of the three will not feature on the 2007 calendar, however, as Belgium's Spa Francorchamps circuit is set to return.
With only one race in Germany likely to occur, organisers of the event at the Nurburgring are confident that they will get the nod over Hockenheim.
"But there are still some final negotiations to be done with Bernie Ecclestone," Nurburgring chief Walker Kafitz told sid.
A definitive calendar for 2007 is due in October.
