Aiming to end his season with a winKimi Raikkonen has vowed to barrack for Ferrari's
Michael Schumacher as the 2006 championship enters its last three races.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport in Milan at the weekend, ironically at a public relations event
for a McLaren sponsor, he spoke at length about his future at the red team.
"Since 2002 I have had some good moments and some less happy ones," Raikkonen said of his time at McLaren. "Hopefully I can win one more race with them. I am sure I will miss some people, but that's life."
Raikkonen played down the recent insinuations of FIA favouritism, and said that he will cross his fingers for Ferrari for 2006 spoils 'because next year it is my team'.
He also promised to catch a word with Schumacher before he replaces the retiring German as Ferrari's top star.
"It has been a little difficult to discuss anything with him in this situation," Raikkonen said, "but now that everyone knows what is going to happen hopefully it will be easier." Raikkonen, who is not likely to test for Ferrari until his McLaren contract expires on the last day of the year, also admitted to not having spoken to Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo at great length.
"I have met him here and there," he explained, "but I do not know him well. I imagine that will change next year."
