Barrichello on the ways at FerrariRubens Barrichello says countryman Felipe Massa only won the recent Grand Prix in Turkey because Ferrari was not able to impose team orders.
The Brazilian, who preceded the 25-year-old as 'number two' at the red team before switching
to Honda in 2006, observed that due to
Fernando Alonso's second place in Istanbul, Italian chiefs could not order Massa aside for team-mate
Michael Schumacher.
Lamenting his own poor result in Turkey, 34-year-old Barrichello said: "At least we had the joy of seeing Massinha win the race. He drove very well and did exactly what needed to be done - he put someone in between him and Michael."
"If that hadn't happened, we know how the story would have ended considering how things work at Ferrari."
The most famous example of Ferrari team orders during Barrichello's six-year tenure at the team came in Austria, 2002, when he gave up the win at the last corner.
But Rubens said of Massa's debut victory: "The important thing is that he won and the celebration we had on Sunday night was worthwhile."
