Aiming to try and help Schumacher win at MonzaTurkish Grand Prix winner Felipe Massa vowed this week to cast aside plans for more victories as the 2006 championship enters its final phase.
The Brazilian lapped nearly a second quicker than Renault's title leader Fernando
Alonso at the Monza test on Thursday, but he said he would be playing a supporting role for Ferrari team-mate
Michael Schumacher when the circus reconvenes at the circuit next week.
"I do not want to win, I want to help Michael and the team to win the championship," Massa was quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"It is still possible that Michael can catch Alonso and I am ready to help him to do that."
Mystery, meanwhile, surrounds the future not only of Massa for 2007, but also that of Schumacher and likely Ferrari racer
Kimi Raikkonen.
But Massa told the newspaper that he 'assumes' he will still be a Ferrari employee beyond the end of the year.
He insisted: "This year I have really grown as a driver."
