Frustrated and seeking new challengeFormer F1 driver has confirmed that he is to leave the DTM series at the end of the season. Alesi, who joined the series in 2002, has said that he is planning to continue racing, but has grown frustrated with the German touring car series.
"I'm completely certain I'm being neglected," Alesi told Eurosport.com regarding his current situation. "Do you know how much I've tested in five years? Three days. Three days in five years. Mercedes goes testing, a lot, but with the other drivers. I must be content with just getting in the car - an old one."
"I will end my participation in the DTM championship at the end of the year," the Frenchman stated on his personal website. "I will indeed be present in competition next year."
Alesi raced with Tyrrell, Ferrari, Benetton, Sauber, Prost and Jordan between 1989 and 2001 making 202 Grand Prix starts.
