Strong Friday run for the Renault driverGiancarlo Fisichella was full of smiles after practice in Indy today – and not just because Italy won!
Giancarlo, first things first… Italy through to the semi-finals of the World Cup. Are you pleased?
"Yes, for sure! They were
not bad today, winning 3-0 and getting through to the semis. So now we have Germany, and it will be a tough match for us no doubt. But the team is getting stronger, so I am optimistic for the azzurri."
And how about practice? Did it go well?
"Yes, we had a good day today – one of the best Fridays so far this year for me. The car felt good immediately, and the changes we made to the set-up went in the right direction. The car was quick and consistent, especially for the race."
What about the Michelin tyres? Are they performing as expected?
"Michelin has done a fantastic job this year so far, and I think we have good, safe tyres here.
Everybody was sorry about what happened at Indy in 2005, and we all want to make up for it with a good show. I don’t think there will be any problems this year."
Finally, things didn’t really come together for you in Canada. Will it go better this weekend?
"I hope so! I made a mistake in Canada, which cost me a good finish. And at some other races this year we have had a few small problems which meant I didn’t get the results I should have done. But I don’t dwell on these things. All I can do is look to the future, not change the past. I will be doing the maximum for myself and for the team, and hopefully we can get a very strong result here on Sunday."
