"We are already talking to Bernie"Silverstone officials are in talks about securing the future of the British Grand Prix beyond 2009.
Managing director Richard Phillips revealed that the venue in Northamptonshire, following years of criticism and uncertainty, is now
enjoying a 'better' relationship with F1 Supremo Bernie Ecclestone.
He told PA Sport: ''We are already talking to Bernie about beyond 2009.''
A new contract, however, is not likely to be a straight-forward affair, with 75-year-old Ecclestone thought to be demanding significantly better facilities at the former war-bomber airfield.
Indeed, McLaren principal Ron Dennis estimated that the cost of Bernie's satisfaction will probably run beyond $65 million for the circuit-owning BRDC.
''(Silverstone) needs massive investment,'' he said at the English track.
