Haug predicts no such problems for Silverstone
McLaren Mercedes should not encounter more fiery problems in 2006, according to Norbert Haug.Kimi Raikkonen
's MP4-21, whilst keeping up with the leading pace, caught fire twice at Monaco - once with a genuine shot at victory
in real prospect.
The problem was blamed on a badly positioned 'heat shield', a new solution debuting at Monaco.
But competition director Haug insisted: "Monaco is the most difficult race for cooling, due to the comparatively low speeds. Silverstone is a completely different place."
While the MP4-21 should hold together in Britain, however, whether it will boast a Monaco-like level of competitiveness is another consideration entirely.
Haug admitted: "Ferrari could look good there, but I see Renault in front right now."
"If you talk about the combination of reliability and speed, Renault is doing the best job."
