‘Commercial obligations’ forcing a change of tact
Earlier today we reported that Force India Mercedes had broken ranks with the nine-strong Formula One Teams’ Association and submitted an entry for the 2010 championship with the sport’s governing body the FIA.
the Silverstone-based team confirmed to ESPN Racing-Live.com that they are indeed considering their position and is currently reviewing the block conditional FOTA supported entry for next season.
"While the Force India Formula One Team is broadly in agreement with the FOTA objectives, commercial obligations have demanded that Force India review its conditional entry jointly submitted by FOTA on deadline day (Last Friday). This has been done today with full transparency between all parties," the team told us today in a statement.
"The details of the team’s position will be discussed between Dr Vijay Mallya and FOTA Vice-Chairman John Howett tomorrow. No further comment will be made until those discussions have taken place."
Williams has already confirmed that it has submitted an entry and was subsequently ‘suspended’ by the team alliance.
