Barcelona - McLaren Mercedes - Test day 2With Pedro de la Rosa switching over to Force India for the remainder of the week, Gary Paffett was the sole test driver on duty today for McLaren Mercedes.
Paffett took over the running of the MP4-23K - the KERS test car
- but his day’s work was cut short at lunchtime when an oil leak prompted the test team to move to the vacant MP4-23.
The team spent the afternoon running aero and slick tyre evaluation runs.
Paffett recorded the fifth fastest time in the KERS equipped car with a best lap of 1:21.340s, while his afternoon run in the standard car yielded a 1:21.
835s best, ninth fastest of the 17 times posted.
The British tester returns to MP4-23K tomorrow for the final day of running.
