one year ago, Alonso suggested that had he stayed at McLaren in 2008, he would have been forced to accept a support role alongside Lewis Hamilton.
Dennis was asked about the comments on Sunday, and made no secret of his belief that Alonso, who returned to Renault this year, may have breached the conditions of his termination agreement with McLaren by speaking critically about the team.
Alonso was replaced for 2008 by Heikki Kovalainen, who in the wake of Dennis' comments inherited his first victory at Budapest.
"You can't see any strings leading to Heikki's shoulders or you can't see anyone's hands up his back," Dennis said.
He flatly rejected Alonso's interpretation that Kovalainen was asked to move aside for Hamilton two weeks ago in Germany.
"When you're in a team and you know your team-mate has the opportunity to win the race and you don't, if you have the right values that are not lodged solely and exclusively in your own motives and your own objectives and your own selfishness, then you take a decision which is to allow the driver past and allow him a chance to win the race," Dennis said.
He insisted that 'only one' former McLaren driver has ever complained about driver inequality.
