Barcelona - BMW Sauber - Test day 2Nick Heidfeld concentrated again on setup work related to next week’s Spanish round of the World Championship today in testing in Barcelona.
The team tried different aerodynamic and mechanical options making what they say as good
progress with the development of the BMW Sauber F1.08. Another focus of today’s work was tyre testing, again in preparation for the upcoming fourth round of the championship .
Like yesterday several teams again tested their cars with the 2009 slick tyres, resulting in significantly better lap times. BMW Sauber stuck to 2008 specifications during the entire session.
With Heidfeld concluding a total of 203 laps (945 kms) in the last two days the car ran according to the team’s test schedule without noteworthy problems, giving the engineers the opportunity to collect additional data.
Heidfeld was the slowest of the nine runners today with a best lap of 1:20.981s, two seconds off the ultimate pace. Robert Kubica takes over testing duties for the final two days in Barcelona.
