Force India unveil 2008 livery
Wraps come off the VJM01 in Mumbai
At a glitzy affair in Mumbai, Force India unveiled its new look for the forthcoming season as it took wraps of its 2008 challenger.

Based on the 2007 Spyker F8-VII, the Ferrari-powered VJM01 is predominantly white with flashes of
gold and features the Kingfisher brand across the rear wing and airbox.

The launch of the 2008 challenger was attended by several eminent personalities, political leaders and a bevy of celebrities and corporate head honchos along with the leadership team of Force India.

“Five years ago if anyone had questioned if there would be an Indian team on the grid, the answer would have been ‘no way’”, Vijay Mallya began. “Formula One is very expensive. The budget for 2008 is in excess of 120 million dollars. India as we knew her was not ready for this commitment to sport. Today I am proud a F1 car is being unveiled here in Mumbai. I have been motivated not only by the power of a billion hearts but also by the fantastic team I have.

“We inherited a team whose performance was not that great,” Mallya continued. “I will also acknowledge that this is a huge challenging task – the only sport I know where a fraction of a second is the difference. It is satisfying to be part of a movement where competition is at the pinnacle. Force India Formula One will demonstrate steady progress moving forward. When India hosts a Grand Prix in 2010, Force India will be on the podium.”

The VJM01 will run for the first time at the next test in Barcelona from 25 February.
