Barcelona - Honda - Test day 1Following the launch of the Honda RA108 at the Honda Racing F1 Team's Brackley headquarters on Tuesday, the 2008 car took to the track in its new livery for the first time in Barcelona today.
The team has an intensive three-day programme
planned at the Circuit de Catalunya with
Rubens Barrichello and Alex Wurz driving today and
Jenson Button joining the test tomorrow.
Barichello completed a couple of acclimatisation runs early in the morning session before putting the new car through its paces as he worked through various set-up changes over the course of the day, completing 55 laps in total and marking a 14th fastest time of 1:24.125.
Alex Wurz had his first opportunity to experience the new car today as he drove the second RA108 for another day of track action with the team following an outing in the RA107 in Valencia last week.
As he put the new chassis through an initial shakedown programme today with no objective of setting the quickest time, Wurz covered 26 laps and recorded a 15th fastest time of 1:26.975, over four seconds slower than the day's leader.
Jenson Button will join the Honda Racing F1 Team in Barcelona tomorrow to take over the car from Alex Wurz, with Rubens Barichello continuing for a second day of running.
