Schumacher and Senna provide inspiration World championship leader Lewis Hamilton has admitted that one of his biggest regrets was not being able to test himself against seven-time world champion
Michael Schumacher.
Former Ferrari, Benetton and Jordan driver Schumacher,
who achieved 91 race wins during his 15-year career, retired from competition in 2006.
"When I heard that he was retiring, I said: 'Damn, please Michael keep going for another season and we'll have some great races against each other'," said the 22-year-old McLaren rookie.
"I met him last year before the Turkish Grand Prix and I was impressed because I'd heard that he was arrogant and not very nice but he took the time to talk to me and I was really honoured."
Hamilton, who currently has a 12-point cushion at the top of the standings from team-mate
Fernando Alonso, added that he would also have loved to measure himself against Brazilian ace Ayrton Senna.
"They are men and drivers who inspire a lot of respect from me," added the Briton.
