Fatalities leaving the French GP circuitA helicopter carrying people involved in the F1 French Grand Prix has crashed in central France killing three people and seriously injuring two, police and officials said Sunday.
The rented helicopter was ferrying people from
the Magny-Cours racetrack, where the French Grand Prix takes place on Sunday, to their hotel when it crashed shortly after 10 pm on Saturday in the Raveau forest near the town Charité-sur-Loire, police said.
The injured were evacuated to a nearby hospital and an investigation was opened into the cause of the crash of the helicopter, which had five people on board.
Police have not disclosed the names of those killed or injured in the crash.
