BMW Sauber racer given the all-clearBMW Sauber's Robert Kubica, who suffered a heavy impact at Montreal over three weeks ago, confirmed to AFP on Thursday that he will be back behind the wheel for Sunday's French Grand Prix.
Kubica has been out of commission since
losing control of his car and barrell-rolling down the track before coming to a standstill after smashing into a wall in the Canadian Grand Prix on June 10.
He received the green light to return after undergoing a medical on Thursday morning.
Asked if he would be taking part in practise which starts here Friday he replied: "Yes".
"I'm looking forward to this race and happy that I missed only Indianapolis," he said at the Magny Cours circuit after emerging from the medical centre where he underwent a fitness check and giving reporters the thumbs-up.
BMW-Sauber Team Principal Mario Theissen added: "We are all happy that Robert can sit in the car again."
Sebastian Vettel stood in for Kubica at the US Grand Prix, finishing in eighth position and scoring a championship point on his debut. Vettel returns now to his role as test and reserve driver for the team.
