Silverstone - Renault - Test Day 3After three intensive days of work in changeable conditions at Silverstone, the Renault F1 Team tonight packed up its equipment and headed back to the factory after making good progress ahead of the next two Grands Prix.
Nelson
Piquet Jr was behind the wheel today in chassis R27-06, and after working on tuning the set-up to suit his driving style, the young Brazilian then got busy with the day's development work!
He primarily worked on evaluating the performance and durability of the Bridgestone Potenza tyre compounds to be used at this circuit in a few weeks' time: the medium and hard compounds from the 2007 range.
Nelson did plenty of miles, something he enjoyed after being out of the car since the last Paul Ricard test over a month ago!
At the end of the day, Nelson had run 108 laps in total, equivalent to 548 km, and set fourth-fastest time. Once again, the team was encouraged by the data it collected and will now set to putting it to best use over the next two race weekends.
ING Renault F1 Team will be back on the road this weekend, as the trucks head to Magny-Cours ahead of the team's home race in Magny-Cours in just over a week's time!
