One season as a test driver is enough...Nelson Piquet Jr says he does not want to remain Renault's test driver beyond the end of this year.
The 21-year-old Brazilian, whose namesake and famous father won three drivers' titles, has already set his sights on Giancarlo
Fisichella's seat for 2008 - but he also refuses to rule out following the lead of Anthony Davidson and debuting with a smaller team.
"One year as a test driver to learn and prepare is fine, but then the perspective must shift to racing again," Piquet, a frontrunner in GP2 last season, told the magazine Motorsport Aktuell.
Should he race for Renault next year, Piquet would have followed a nearly identical path to the grid as his test predecessors at the team, fellow Flavio Briatore-protégés Heikki Kovalainen and
Fernando Alonso.
Piquet, however, said the current rules do not create an environment for 'enough' mileage for testers. He admitted that there is a risk that, too long in the job, he could 'easily' be forgotten by team bosses.
